Baltimore Face Lift - MACS-Lift

Minimal Access Cranial Suspension Facelift

The MACS-Lift is a mini-facelift characterized by short incisions, limited skin undermining, and suture suspension of the deep tissues of the face. It provides natural rejuvenation with shorter operative time, quicker recovery, and less potential for complications compared with traditional facelifts.

Indications:
  • The procedure is designed for patients who have started to notice jowling and sagging of the face and neck, but who are not ready for, and really do not need a traditional full facelift.
  • It is ideal for younger patients and those with less advanced signs of aging.
Intended results:
  • The MACS-Lift procedure is designed to provide natural, subtle rejuvenation.
  • The MACS-Lift is not intended to dramatically alter a patient's appearance.
  • The MACS-Lift procedure is performed to address signs of facial aging which detract from a youthful appearance. The goal is to tighten the cheek, resuspend the jowl, define the jaw line, and improve neck contour.
Procedure description:
  • Incisions are limited to the hairline and in front of the ear.
  • Limited skin undermining is performed.
  • Permanent sutures are used to resuspend the deeper structures of the face (SMAS), reversing "gravitational signs of aging."
  • Excess skin is excised, and the incisions are closed.
Length of procedure:
  • The MACS-Lift procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and requires 2 to 3 hours.
  • The MACS-Lift can be performed as an out-patient procedure, allowing patients to recover in their own home.
Recovery and aftercare:
  • While facial swelling and some bruising are seen commonly, the severity and duration and more limited when compared with traditional rhytidectomy.
  • Light activity is permitted within days.
  • Most people feel comfortable in public in about 10 days.
Insurance guidelines:
  • The MACS-Lift is a cosmetic procedure that will not be covered under any insurance policy.
Additional procedures:
  • A MACS-Lift can be combined with rejuvenation of the brow or eyelids.
  • Selected patients may benefit from neck liposuction.
  • Ex-smokers may want to consider skin resurfacing for lines around the lips.
