Baltimore Face Lift - Brow Lift Procedure
Indications:
- Droopy eyebrows.
- Tired, listless appearance.
- Horizontal lines and furrows across the forehead.
Intended Result:
- To minimize forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over the eyes, furrowed forehead and frown lines.
- To restore a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes.
Procedure Description:
- The muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are surgically removed or changed in order to smooth out the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines.
- The incision can be hidden behind the hairline if the doctor chooses to use the conventional "open" technique.
- As an option, the doctor might perform the procedure endoscopically (using a viewing instrument) allowing for minimal incisions.
Length of Procedure:
- A browlift procedure can take from one to two hours.
- This surgery is done on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia. You will be able to rest following your surgery in the comfort of your own home.
Recovery & Aftercare:
- Patients may experience some temporary bruising, swelling, numbness or headaches to resolve in two to three weeks.
- Bed rest the day of surgery is recommended.
- Limit activity for the first week following surgery.
- Avoid strenuous activities for about one to two weeks.
- Return to work within seven to ten days, usually sooner for endoscopic forehead lift.
Insurance Guidelines:
- A browlift is considered a cosmetic procedure; therefore insurance will not cover it.
Additional Procedures:
- A Facelift (for removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of the face and neck), Blepharoplasty (for wrinkles and/or bags around the eyes), or Laser surgery (for skin rejuvenation) may be performed in conjunction with the browlift procedure.
- Non surgical procedures may include BOTOX Cosmetic® injections or injectable fillers.
*Please discuss these additional options with the doctor.
**NOTE: The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for any given individual can only be determined through a consultation with the plastic surgeon.
