Indications: - Small breasts, underdeveloped breasts, asymmetrical breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after pregnancy.

- To achieve symmetry with breast size difference due to underdevelopment or as a need for reconstructive technique.
- To improve overall appearance and self image, regardless of the original indication for surgery.
Procedure Description: - Our suregeons will make a small incision, usually located under lower portion of the breast near the chest wall. A pocket is created for the implant either in the breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. Once this pocket is created, the implant is carefully placed, centered beneath the nipple and the skin is sutured. The same procedure is repeated for the other breast.
Length of Procedure: - A breast augmentation takes approximately two hours.
- This surgery is done on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia. You will be able to rest following your surgery in the comfort of your own home.
Recovery & Aftercare: - Patients may experience some degree of bruising, swelling and tenderness.
- Our doctors may recommend a sports bra be worn for a couple of weeks following surgery.
- Bed rest the day of surgery is recommended.
- Limit activity for the next two days following surgery.
- Avoid strenuous activities for about one to two weeks.
- Return to work within the first week.
Insurance Guidelines: - Breast augmentation is usually deemed cosmetic in nature unless the indication for surgery was due to breast reconstruction.
Additional Procedures: - A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, may be used in conjunction with breast augmentation to enhance the overall position of the new breasts. *Please discuss this option with the doctor.
