Dr. Byrne is an Associate Professor and fulltime faculty member of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He brings to the Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland an international reputation in aesthetic and functional rhinoplasty (nasal surgery). He is the Director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, ranked #1 in the country by US News and World Report.

Dr. Byrne completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego, and an internship in General Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed a five year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Diego and trained under several nationally recognized leaders in Facial Plastic Surgery, gaining expertise in facial cosmetic surgery, rhinoplasty, and reconstruction. Dr. Byrne was awarded a prestigious fellowship position in the highly competitive Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program administered by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

In addition to being a highly trained and talented surgeon, Dr. Byrne is known for his personable approach to patient relationships. He upholds the highest ethical and moral standards, focuses on open communication and is committed to working with patients to help them achieve the best cosmetic results.

Dr. Byrne is a highly sought after lecturer and teacher across the world. He is the principle and senior author of dozens of journal articles and textbook chapters on topics within facial plastic surgery and has a specific research interest in the treatment of nasal reconstruction and facial paralysis. In addition, Dr. Byrne is very involved in international humanitarian work. He has been featured for his expertise on local and national stories on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, ABC News, CBS News, Canadian Broadcasting, and a variety of print media including Forbes, Reuters, AP, UPI and others.

Dr. Byrne is certified to perform Facial Plastic Surgery by both the American Board of Otolaryngology, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association. Dr. Byrne is the co-Director of the Greater Baltimore Cleft Lip and Palate Team of GBMC.
