What are Restylane® and Perlane®?
Restylane and Perlane are a safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines (nasolabial folds).
What are Restylane and Perlane made of?
Restylane and Perlane are made of hyaluronic acid. In the human body, natural hyaluronic acid provides volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane has been modified slightly to last longer than the body’s hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane is produced by a biotechnical process.
How are Restylane and Perlane different from each other?
Restylane and Perlane contain stabilized hyaluronic acid, made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is Perlane is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane and is intended for deeper injection to volumize skin for correcting facial wrinkles and folds. Your physician can best determine what is right for you.
Are Restylane and Perlane Safe?
Yes. Restylane and Perlane have been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Restylane and Perlane are fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not required. Restylane and Perlane contain trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by clients with a history of allergies to such material. After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not use Restylane or Perlane.
Can Restylane be used anywhere on the face?
Restylane has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. In the United States, the FDA has approved Restylane for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
How long does Restylane or Perlane last?
Restylane and Perlane are proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane and Perlane effects generally last for about six months. Perlane lasts at least six months in the majority of patients. The stabilization technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.
How is Restylane different from BOTOX?
BOTOX, Restylane and Perlane are used to correct wrinkles in different ways. Restylane and Perlane are natural, cosmetic fillers. In contrast, BOTOX is a substance that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many clients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.
