In recent months, there has been a Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) breast implant health scare across Europe and South America. It has been discovered that these French breast implants have a high rupture rate and authorities are urging women with these implants to get them removed. While PIP implants were not available in the United States because of the FDA’s high safety standards, many women are still questioning the safety of their implants.
At Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland, we only use breast implants manufactured by Mentor or Allergan, both U.S. organizations with excellent safety records. Check out our very own Dr. Michael Cohen, medical director, discuss breast implant safety on WBAL TV.
